PESI Publishing is a small, independent publisher specializing in behavioral health resources. A sister company to PESI inc., we are joined in the mission to connect knowledge with need, meeting clinicians where they are and helping them do what they do best. Our publications are known for having a straightforward, conversational style with reproducible, easy-to-use exercises, strategies, and guides for the general consumer as well as for practitioners to use with clients.

What We're Looking For

  • Workbooks — Designed to teach and increase proficiencies, workbooks should include straight-forward explanations and useful, easy-to-use exercises, checklists and practice guide to make the skills accessible to clients. Reproducible forms are a key component.
  • Professional Books — Our books are targeted to a wide variety of professionals seeking straightforward, practical and user-friendly information. Audience would include counselors, therapists, psychologists, social workers, rehabilitation professionals, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, and school professionals looking to expand their knowledge.
  • Other Clinical Resources — In-session tools such as flip charts and card decks are designed to strengthen your connection with clients, help them better understand therapeutic concepts, and increase engagement during your time together.
  • Self-Help Books — The goal is to captivate, inspire, motivate, and guide everyday people into better understanding themselves, their habits, their relationships with others, and more so they can create a happier, more meaningful life.

Proposal Guidelines

*Note: Due to saturated markets and increased print prices, we are currently limiting the number of children's books, card decks, and flip charts that we'll consider for publication. 

To help us conceptualize your vision for this book, please include the following information in ONE PDF or word document:

 

The Proposal - Required

  • Working Title and Your Name and Credentials

  • One Sentence Description of the Book

  • Overview: 2-3 pages that address the following:
    • What makes your book unique in the marketplace? What other books compete with yours?
    • What is the general content and objective of your work? Who is it for?
    • Why is this book needed? What specific problems does your book aim to solve?
    • Are you writing about any new techniques or groundbreaking research?

  • Table of Contents and Chapter Synopses: Brief summaries or bullet points about what will be included in each chapter

  • Length and Schedule
    What is the estimated length (number of words) of your book at this stage? Does this include references and endnotes? At this stage, when do you realistically anticipate being ready to deliver the final manuscript?


  • Biography
    Tell us about you! List your current role, credentials, accolades, associations, previous books, etc.


  • Marketing Opportunities
    We rely on a collaborative relationship with our authors to promote our books. How will you help market your book, not just at launch but for months and years to come? Consider the following:
    • Professional network: Are there people (or entities) that will review, endorse or promote your book?
    • Social media and email lists: Do you have a large, engaged following, or are you connected with people whodo?
    • Do you write for any print or online publications?
    • How about speaking, training, and podcasts?
    • What else?

Writing Samples - Required

  • Introduction
    Set the tone for your book in a conversational-meets-professional voice that speaks directly to your reader. Map out an inviting, yet concise, framework for the book that includes:
    • A clear indication of who the book is for (clinicians, educators, general audience) and the population or clinical issue it addresses
    • The “why” of your book: What “problem” exists for your reader that you aim to solve with your book?
    • Your expertise: Why are you the person to write this book?
    • A brief walk-through of what the reader should expect as they read the book, either by chapter or a general summary

  • Sample Chapter(s) - at least one full chapter is required
  • Sample Worksheets, Exercises, Case Examples, or Illustrations (if applicable)

(Note: Artificial Intelligence (AI) usage of any kind must be clearly disclosed in your proposal. Please note that we cannot accept manuscripts for publication that are AI generated.)
