CBD for Chronic Pain: What You Need to Know

Listen to any podcast and there’s a good chance you’ll hear an ad for CBD products.

They’re everywhere, including gas stations, grocery stores, movie theaters, the mall...because they’re in demand.

Stressed and anxious patients are looking for help with their pain, sleep problems, and anxiety, and they’re interested in CBD. When they have questions, who do you want them getting answers from — a mall kiosk, or you?

We know the assumptions and stereotypes that accompany CBD products, so let’s get past the stigmas and generalizations and cut straight to the science and facts about cannabis.

Overwhelmed with CBD options — patients need to be educated by someone with your clinical experience. Because if you don’t have the answers about these products, their safety, and their effectiveness, your patients could be easily misled.

Let’s start by looking at chronic pain. Did you know that approximately 50 million Americans live with some form of chronic pain? That’s 20% of the population struggling to find relief.

A recent study found that 62% of medical cannabis users are using it to treat “enduring pain” – but what does the research show? And what can we as professionals ethically endorse?

Dr. Newton holds a Bachelor of Science from Laurentian University, a Doctor of Chiropractic from the National University of Health Sciences, a Master of Science and a PhD from the University of Guelph, in nutritional sciences. Gen’s job is to “bring the science” that supports Fringe’s educational course. She is a deep believer in healing body, mind and spirit using the gifts of the natural world.
