Codependency Treatment Training
Help clients find their way back to themselves.
Codependency shows up in your caseload more than most intake forms ever capture. It hides inside anxiety, depression, chronic relationship conflict, and clients who can describe everyone else's needs in detail but go blank when asked about their own. PESI offers CE-approved training in codependency treatment, built around CBT, DBT, EMDR, and attachment-based strategies you can bring into session right away.

The Clinician’s Codependency Treatment Workbook
Although codependency – or loss of self in others – is rooted in addictions work, it is a complex and often overlooked dynamic that underlies many of the issues that bring clients to therapy, includin
You. Here. Today.
You. Here. Today. is a collection of short, grounded reflections that invite you to connect with your authentic self, gently explore your relationships, and learn to trust your inner voice.
Why This Training Matters
Codependency is one of the more misunderstood terms in the field.
It got its start in addictions work, describing the partners and family members who organized their entire lives around someone else's substance use. Decades later, clinicians recognize it as something broader: a relational pattern marked by an external focus, blurred boundaries, and a loss of self that shows up across anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship-focused caseloads, not just in families touched by addiction.
Clients living with codependency often present as the helpers, the fixers, the ones who can't say no. They over-function for others while under-functioning for themselves, and they frequently arrive in your office describing burnout, resentment, or a relationship they can't seem to leave, without ever using the word "codependent." Left untreated, these patterns can deepen into people-pleasing that costs clients their health, chronic guilt around basic boundaries, and vulnerability to narcissistic abuse and trauma bonding.
The clinical picture has caught up with the concept. Codependency treatment today draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, somatic approaches, and narrative therapy to help clients rebuild a sense of self, set boundaries without guilt, and recognize the difference between genuine connection and self-erasure. For clients recovering from narcissistic relationships or trauma bonds, this work often overlaps directly with trauma treatment, making codependency training a natural extension of the trauma-informed skill set you already use
