Description

Licensed health professionals and those governed by a regulatory board risk their careers and reputation when they find themselves struggling with a substance use disorder. A highly experienced clinician can make a difference in their career restoration and fitness for duty for these professionals.

Dr. Michel Sucher, Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and Executive Medical Director at Meadows Behavioral Healthcare, examines the definition of an impaired practitioner, the criteria for substance use disorder, the symptoms and warning signs of impairment, and the multiple and varied causes of practitioner impairment. He will explore how to intervene, the evaluation process to determine the underlying issues, and the treatment protocol. Using this knowledge, he will focus on the various forms of treatment and the elements and terms of physician and health professional monitoring after completion of primary treatment.
