With more than 30 years of clinical experience, he has worked with adults, adolescents, children, and families across outpatient clinics, hospitals, residential treatment programs, and schools. His clinical focus centers on chronic pain, chronic health conditions, trauma, attachment, and developmental trauma, PTSD, and complex trauma.
He developed an integrative, neuroscience-informed model for treating chronic pain and chronic health conditions that emphasizes the body’s inherent capacity for healing. In addition to his clinical work, he trains therapists internationally through workshops and conference presentations on advanced EMDR and nervous-system-based approaches to chronic pain and trauma treatment.
He previously worked at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu – recognized by US News & World Report as the best Hospital in Hawaii – where he received the Clinical Personnel of the Year award. He also served on Kaiser Permanente’s National Guideline Development Team developing evidence-based guidelines for treating children with ADHD.
