"He laughed to free his mind from his mind's bondage." James Joyce, Ulysses

Contemporary research demonstrates humor as a coping strategy, as a sign of good mental health, and as a tool for healing grief. In this unique seminar recording, one of the first to address humor from a clinical perspective, you will learn creative and process-oriented therapeutic strategies for use in grief counseling and therapy. Current theoretical perspectives on the use of humor in psychotherapy will be discussed in the context of grief facilitation. Case examples will be provided.

Dr. Rainer is board certified in clinical psychology. He has practiced psychotherapy for more than 25 years, and studies, researches, and works with individuals, couples, and families struggling with the demands of chronic and terminal illness, end-of-life and palliative care, and issues related to grief and bereavement.
