Description
It’s no secret that individuals with autism experience the world and process trauma differently. But how do you take a seemingly rigid, step-by-step protocol, and use it to help vulnerable communities who may not respond well to typical interventions? That’s where trauma expert Jennifer Gerlach, LCSW, can help! Using her unique perspective as an autistic person herself, Jennifer will show you how trauma processing in autistic individuals looks different and give you strategies and techniques for adapting tools from EMDR therapy to better meet their needs.
You’ll come away with:
- Interventions for specific negative cognitions (i.e. “I’m worth less than others.”)
- Strategies for adapting resourcing to better prepare clients for EMDR
- Techniques to help clients regain stability post-session
- Ways to better tailor treatment plans based on common traumatic experiences
This course is not affiliated with EMDRIA and does not qualify toward EMDRIA credits or training.
