Michelle Flaum, EdD, LPCC-s, DCMHS is a Professor of Counseling at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and a clinician in private practice. She is the author of the first book focused on medical trauma, Managing the Psychological Impact of Medical Trauma. In addition to teaching graduate students at Xavier, she consults with clinicians and health systems around the US and the world to improve patient care for those experiencing medical trauma. She is a Fellow of the American Mental Health Counselors Association, and her work has been featured on NPR, Dr. Radio, Health Professional Radio (Australia), and in publications such as Elle magazine, Healthcentral.com, Refinery 29, and Counseling Today.
