RANDY KULMAN, PH.D.

Randy Kulman, Ph.D., is a child clinical psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of children with executive-functioning disorders. He is the author of a book of strategies and recommendations to improve executive-functioning skills for teenagers, Train Your Brain for Success: A Teenager’s Guide to Executive Functions. He recently authored Playing Smarter in a Digital World: A Guide to Choosing and Using Popular Video Games and Apps to Improve Executive Functioning in Children and Teens.

 

Dr. Kulman is the president and founder of LearningWorks for Kids, an educational technology company that focuses on the use of games, apps, play and technology to improve executive functions. He writes columns for Commonsensemedia.org and InsideADHD.org and a regular parenting column for the South County Independent newspaper.

 

Dr. Kulman presented his research on several occasions at the CHADD Annual International Conference on ADHD, the annual conference of the American Psychological Association, and The Games for Health Conference. He has published numerous articles and book chapters about his research and strategies for the use of playing technology to improve executive skills.

 

Dr. Kulman has been assessing and treating children with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities, anxiety, and depressive disorders for the past 30 years. Over the past 10 years he has become particularly interested in developing strategies to use children’s video-game, app, and digital-media use to improve executive functions, creativity and academic learning.
