TERESA L ARATA-MAIERS, PSY.D.

Dr. Terry Arata-Maiers is a clinical pediatric psychologist who has worked with the families of Wounded Warriors through the Child and Adolescent Psychology Service (CAPS) at Brooke Army Military Center (BAMC) since the beginning of the current wars. She has published articles on combat injured families and is a frequent presenter in her areas of expertise: military families, deployment, and combat injury; military and civilian children in disasters and trauma; bereavement; and violence in schools. She is a member of the Workgroup on Intervention with Combat Injured Families at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS) of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). She is the BAMC Site Principal Investigator on multiple CSTS/USUHS studies on Combat-Injured Families. She has served as the Coordinator of Child and Family Programs and the Program Director for the School-Based Behavioral Health Initiative at the Ft Sam Houston Elementary School. She has been a CAPS staff psychologist, CAPS Liaison to the Ft Sam Houston ISD schools, Clinical Psychology Faculty for BAMC's graduate medical program, and adjunct faculty at Our Lady of the Lake University. Dr. Arata-Maiers received her doctorate from Baylor University, completed her internship at Vanderbilt University, and completed two post-doctoral fellowships at BAMC.
