Twenty-five years ago, I had no idea my career would revolve around the lymphatic system.
I was happy treating orthopedic cases—ACL repairs, rotator cuffs, post-op knees. Then a family friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. After her mastectomy, she developed lymphedema. I watched her search for help, calling clinic after clinic, only to hear "we don't treat that here."
That's when it hit me: this massive gap in care wasn't just in my area—it was everywhere.
So I got certified. Not because I planned to become a lymphedema specialist, but because I wanted to help one person who needed it.
Then something unexpected happened.
That first lymphedema patient told me I was the only provider in her entire cancer journey who'd made her feel relief. Not just physical relief—she felt seen. Like someone finally understood what she was going through.
I realized this work mattered in a way I hadn't anticipated.
Fast forward to today: I've treated thousands of patients, trained hundreds of clinicians, founded Oasis Physical Therapy, and built the LymphSmart YouTube channel to make this knowledge more accessible.

You'll earn MLD certification* through this course, which is different from full CLT certification (which requires 135+ hours). This 18-hour training gives you the foundational skills to treat swelling effectively and safely within your scope of practice.
Yes. This course includes specific modules on documentation strategies that demonstrate medical necessity through functional outcomes—exactly what insurance requires for reimbursement.
Plan for 1-3 hours per week of self-paced video learning, plus four 60-minute live Q&A sessions spread across the 12 weeks. The integration activities take 15-30 minutes each and are designed to help you apply what you're learning immediately with real patients.
