Here's What You'll Learn
Symptom relief can feel like progress — until anxiety returns. This program teaches you how to treat what maintains anxiety with the very best tools available so outcomes last beyond the therapy room.

Foundations of Effective Anxiety Treatment—from First Sessions to Forward Progress with CBT and ERP

Unit 1 equips clinicians with a strong foundation for effective anxiety treatment from the very first session. You'll learn how to structure early CBT sessions, conduct meaningful assessment and treatment planning, and clearly teach clients how anxiety works in the brain—setting the stage for engagement, follow through, and progress. This unit also introduces core ERP and cognitive therapy principles so you can begin treatment with confidence.

Here's what you'll learn:

Getting Started: How to Optimize the Early CBT Sessions
  • How to socialize your client to the CBT Session structure
  • Getting your client to complete homework
  • What not to do (reassurance, rabbit hole)
Assessment and Treatment Planning: Set the Stage for Successful Treatment
  • Diagnosis — why it's important
  • Key questions to ask at intake
  • Assessment forms — where to find them
  • Using a SUDS scale
Anxiety and the Brain: What Every Client Needs to Know

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Cognitive Therapy
  • Create a fear hierarchy using SUD scales
  • How to set up an exposure
  • Strategies to handle resistance to exposure
  • Utilize values clarification to motivate change
  • Challenge distortions and core beliefs that get in the way of change
  • The role of mindfulness in anxiety treatment

Applying Evidence Based Anxiety Treatment Across Diagnoses and Populations

Unit 2 focuses on applying evidence based anxiety treatment in real clinical situations. Clinicians will develop hands on skill using ERP for phobias and OCD, interoceptive exposure for panic disorder, paradoxical and experiential techniques for social anxiety, and targeted strategies for GAD and worry. You'll also learn how to set clients up for long-term success through thoughtful termination and relapse prevention planning.

Here's what you'll learn:

Phobias and OCD: Exposure and Response Prevention in Action
  • Strategies for the most common phobias (heights, spiders, small spaces, and more!)
  • How to get comfortable with extreme exposures
  • Vomit phobia, fear of harm, contamination, obsessive thoughts, sexual obsession
  • When and how to use imaginary scripts
