ROBYN L. GOBIN, PH.D.
Robin L. Gobin, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist, university professor, author, speaker, and researcher specializing in interpersonal trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, and women’s mental health.
Dr. Gobin is an assistant professor in the University of Illinois College of Applied Health Sciences and maintains a trauma-focused private practice where she uses research supported therapeutic approaches. Dr. Gobin’s research interests include improving post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment outcomes, the effects of physical and sexual violence on functioning, and understanding how African American culture impacts the way individuals experience, cope with, and recover from post-traumatic distress.
Dr. Gobin is the author of The Self-Care Prescription: Powerful Tools to Manage Stress, Reduce Anxiety & Enhance Well-Being (Althea Press, 2019) and a former vice-chair of the American Psychological Association’s Committee of Early Career Psychologists. She was named a 2018 citizen psychologist by the APA for her leadership in reducing barriers to mental health treatment for ethnic minority populations and creating an educational pipeline for the next generation of culturally diverse leaders in the field of psychology. Dr. Gobin earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Oregon.
