MICHELLE WEEMHOFF, MSW

Michelle Weemhoff, MSW, is the senior policy advisor for the Michigan Council on Crime and Delinquency. Specializing in advocacy, community organizing and public policy development, Ms. Weemhoff has dedicated her career to protecting the human and civil rights of youth and families impacted by the justice system and promoting social, economic and racial equity in all communities. Her work has primarily focused on dismantling harmful justice policies and creating programs and systems that embrace prevention, diversion and positive youth development approaches. She has advanced reform in multiple states to improve court proceedings and quality legal representation, create and expand alternatives to detention and incarceration, and end the practice of sentencing youth as adults. She has also presented at state and national conferences, as well as co-authored numerous publications to promote strategies that incorporate youth development principles into policy and practice. Ms. Weemhoff received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan.
