JUSTIN STANEK, EDD, ATC

Justin Stanek is a certified athletic trainer, athletic training professor, and the director of the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapy (SMART) Clinic at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. He also serves as the athletic training program director, teaching courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level for the assessment and treatment of sports-related injuries. Throughout his career, he has worked clinically in the high school, collegiate, and clinical settings with patients of all ages.

Dr. Stanek is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers
' Association, Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association, and Illinois Athletic Trainers' Association and has published and presented at the national, district, and state levels. His research focuses on the prevention and treatment of lower extremity pathologies in the physically active and he has authored or co-authored numerous articles appearing in the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation, Journal of Athletic Training, Athletic Training and Sports Health Care, and the Athletic Training Education Journal.

Most recently, Dr. Stanek has worked clinically in the SMART Clinic, where he treats a wide variety of orthopedic injuries, including post-operative ACL reconstruction, patellofemoral pain and
"runners knee", patellar tendinopathies, and muscular strains. As a clinician, he is committed to providing quality patient care through the use of research evidence and is excited to share this information with you.
