CONNIE PIKE, CCC-SLP

Connie Moore Pike is a speech/language pathologist diagnosed with a rare voice disorder in 2004. Spasmodic Dysphonia (SD) is described as an incurable neurological focal dystonia of the vocal folds that severely impairs the ability to speak. Connie did not choose the current gold standard of treatment for her SD, which involved regular injections of botulinum toxin into the vocal folds to weaken the spasms. Instead, she embarked on a period of self-discovery and emerged with a fully functioning voice, using a holistic approach. Her first book, Overcoming Spasmodic Dysphonia, was written as she recovered. Since 2005, Connie has provided treatment to hundreds of SD sufferers, with a good success record of improved vocal function. She believes that the voice can be recovered to some degree through neuroplasticity, which is the ability of the brain to rewire function. Since Connie has experienced the devastation of a broken voice, she has developed a passion for helping others become free to speak. Clinics are held in Apollo Beach, FL.
