PAMELA BEACH, ATTORNEY AT LAW

Pamela L. Beach, RN, JD, has been in private practice for over 18 years. Her areas of concentration include providing legal and risk management services for 36 mental health centers that comprise the Texas Council Risk Management Fund. The services she provides includes advising and assisting private providers and healthcare entities in handling employment and other risk management issues including professional and premises liability, reviewing and drafting contracts and assisting clients in complying with all government regulations. Prior to her private practice, Ms. Beach was general counsel for the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County, an associate in the law firm of Kruse & Laser, financial coordinator for  the University of Texas Mental Sciences Institute, staff development coordinator for West Oaks, The Psychiatric Institute of Houston, acting assistant head nurse in the Adult Psychiatric Unit of the Methodist Hospital, in private practice for individualized psychotherapy and a nurse therapist for Texas Research Institute of Mental Sciences. Ms. Beach received a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, a B.S.N. and an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas School of Nursing in Houston and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law in Houston, She is a member of numerous organizations, among them the Texas, Houston and American Bar associations, the National Association of State Mental Health Attorneys, Texas Medical Center Lawyer’s Group and the Greater Houston Society for Healthcare Risk Management. She has recently been appointed by the Texas Attorney General to the Attorney General’s HIPAA Task Force. Ms. Beach is a frequent presenter on mental health, medical, legal and nursing topics.
