    Objectives:
    1. State core beliefs of MBSR.
    2. List the seven attitudes needed in cultivating mindfulness.
    3. Describe the themes and essential components of the eight week MBSR curriculum.
    4. Provide a definition of mindfulness and practice awareness exercises.
    5. Describe how to introduce mindfulness into everyday language for clients.
    6. Experience a body scan mindfulness meditation and describe its applicability to stress reduction.
    7. Experience and describe the benefits of a sitting meditation practice and how to involve awareness of the breath.
    8. Demonstrate mindful movement, walking meditation and yoga.
    9. Define and practice a three minute breathing space that can be used throughout the day to relieve stress.
    10. Define the term stress and how mindfulness is used to decrease reactivity and improve coping skills.

    12. Define ways to integrate MBSR into daily life.
    13. Explain the use of a mindful pause (S.T.O.P.) to refocus attention and interrupt negative thoughts and ruminations.
    14. Explain the applicability of neuroscience research to stress reduction.
    15. Demonstrate the use of compassion and loving-kindness meditations.

    ELANA ROSENBAUM, MS, LICSW

    Elana Rosenbaum, MS, LICSW, has been integrating mindfulness with psychotherapy for over 30 years. She is a leader in the clinical application of mindfulness meditation to cancer care and is a pioneering teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at the Center for Mindfulness, the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She has authored, Here for Now: Living Well with Cancer through Mindfulness and Being Well (even when you’re sick): Mindfulness Practices for People Living with Cancer and Other Serious Illness.

    Elana has a private practice in psychotherapy in Worcester, Massachusetts and is a sought-after mindfulness coach, teacher, speaker, Course leader and research consultant. She has been featured in “Chronicle” on CBS and mentioned in many magazine articles including Yoga Journal, Health, Coping, and the PBS audio series, “Walking through the Storm”. She is currently working on her third book, a workbook of mindfulness exercises for optimal living.
