ABOUT PATRICIA MCGUIRE, M.D., FAAP

Patricia McGuire, M.D., FAAP is the president of Springtides, Inc. of Cedar Rapids, IA. As a board certified developmental and behavioral pediatrician, she maintains a medical practice evaluating and providing guidance and counseling to children and families experiencing developmental and behavioral challenges. Through her nonprofit organization, Springtides, she offers workshops and trainings for the adults who work and live with developmentally and behaviorally challenged youth, and for the youth, direct services utilizing tutors and a music therapist.
 
Dr. McGuire has over 20 years experience in the field. She has written articles for regional parenting magazines and published the book Never Assume: Getting to Know Children Before Labeling Them, which the Midwest Book Review stated “is a solid child psychology manual, highly recommended.” Dr. McGuire has been involved with her local CHADD group and has spoken on ADHD to parent and professional groups for many years. She also does workshops and trainings at the local community college and has presented at YAI in New York and at the International Dyslexia Association. She has had leadership roles in many state organizations and is currently on the nominating committee of the International Dyslexia Association.
